Surjeet Singh Pahwa, an Engineer, an Ace Punjabi Poet and a Film Producer, was born on 13th January in Delhi. He studied at SGTB Khalsa School at Dev Nagar. After comleting his education, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer at different places in India and Africa and then finally settled at Montreal in Canada. He became a role model Gursikh because of his deep love for his religion and mother tongue Punjabi. He wrote poetry and supported his community in all situations. He realized that the main reason for absence of peace in the universe was that people belonging to majority did not behave cordially with the minorities. If, without considering other things, the best in humanity is honored, then there will truly be peace all around. Being a Gursikh, he believed in Sarbat Da Bhala and dedicated himself to all such causes. He started prodcing short films with such a mission. For example, his film, “IBADAT”, which was officially selected for IFFSA, 2016 shows what is meant by true worship. Another film, which has made him famous all over the world is a short film with a French title,”BONJOUR JI”, which implies a salutation in French when the two persons meet. This film shows that our behavior with other people, (particularly with minorities) is based upon false assumptions which grow in our mind without any effort to meet, understand and appreciate each other. But when we meet, we realize as how a change in our perspective on other people can drive different behavior on our part. In this short film, the hero is a turbaned Sikh who is an Executive who can speak French fluently. People may not like him in Qubec area where French people are dominating, but when there in an interaction between them, the same person is liked by them. This film has been highly appreciated and has won several awards. This fulfills the aim of Mr. Pahwa who wants to make this World a better place for all minorities (including Sikhs) where peace and harmony prevail. This mission being truly in the spirit of Gurbani, S. Surjeet Singh Pahwa emerges as a great Role Model who can show the righteous path of Universal peace and brotherhood (as shown by our Gurus).
