Jarnail Singh Pasricha, a well known name in the field of education, was born on 6th Arpil 1938 at
Montgomri (now in Pakistan) in the house of S. Gobind Singh Pasricha and Sdn. Inder Kaur Ji. After
completing his education, he engaged himself in the family business of wholesale trading in electrical items.
This family has agencies of big companies such as Bajaj, Usha, Crompton etc. Although S. Jarnail Singh
himself could not continue higher education, his family had a desire to do some concrete work in spreading
the education among the people of his community. Thus, he started moving in this direction by becoming a
member of the Executive Committee of Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Mont Gumri in 1961. In the initial years, he
worked as a Manager of the MGN Senior Secondary Girls School, Adda Hoshiarpur Jalandhar, but later on
he became the in-charge of this school which role he performed with full dedication and devotion and made
the girl school an ideal school in that area. He kept the best of the teachers, paid them sufficiently, provided
them a conducive environment and maintained perfect harmony and cordial relations between the staff and
the management. In 1974, he along with others setup Mont Gumri Guru Nanak Education Trust of which
he became Secretary in April 1979 under S. Hukam Singh, former Speaker of Lok Sabha, India. He wanted
to create an institution par excellence for which he instilled in Montgomerians a passionate desire to march
ahead, faster and stronger, to synthesize the intellectual, emotional and the spiritual. He believed in healthy
discussions, timely rectification of mistakes and judicious spending for the betterment of the institutions
and the students. He has an ardent desire to improve the standard of education and by imparting quality
education, to develop the overall personality of the students. He has taken keen interest in promoting sports
as a result of which the students of MGN schools have brought laurels in the field of cricket, golf, Tennis.
Similarly he has promoted co-curricular activities as to promote and bring out skills among the students.
Whereas best of the facilities like equipment in the laboratories, computers, updated libraries etc. are made
available to the students, they are also taught moral and ethical values for making them useful persons for
the society and the country. He himself is a role-model possessing the qualities of humanity, punctuality
and discipline and motivates others to inculcate such qualities among them. As a role-model, he has made a
name in the field of education by starting two new schools, one at Kapurthala and the other at Urban Estate,
Jalandhar. Among his other qualities as a role-model, he is an open minded person, easily approachable,
caring for the staff, very punctual, looks into minutest details of everything and the best of all he is a cool
personality who never loses his temper. He is a close confidant too. People love to confide in him and take
wise suggestions from him in times of distress. He has created a niche for himself as a good friend whom
you can trust blindly for very personal problems. And he is a true friend indeed! He is all about grit, grind
and glory.
