Sukhwinder Singh

Sukhwinder Singh, a pioneer of animation films on Sikh religion, was born on 3rd April, 1965. After completing his education with MBA degree, he started his career in sales and marketing and worked with various companies including very eventful six years with Dunlop India Ltd. An instinctive entrepreneur, he quitted the high flying job to lead several startups in India, Singapore and Sri Lanka before settling up his own software Development and Consulting business in 1999 with offices in Punjab, California and Singapore. However, it is not as entrepreneur alone that Sukhwinder Singh becomes a role-model rather, it is his contribution in the field of animation films on Sikh religion which brought him fame. He realized that the best way of propagating Sikh religion was through films and animation films was the best way of present Sikh history. He created first ever Sikh Animation “Sahibzadey : A Saga of Valor & Sacrifice” based on martyrdom of Baba Jorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji under the banner if VISMAAD. The movie released in 2005 was an instant hit and remains the most watched Sikh movie ever. It was followed by four more movies: Baba Banda Singh Bahadur (2006), Sundri : The Brave Kaur (2008), Bhai Taru Singh : True Saint, Fearless soldier (2010) and Bhai Subeg Singh Shahbaz Singh (2012). All Sikh Animation projects are not-for-profit. Since 2012 Sukhwinder Singh has creatively lead Vismaad in launch of SikhVille.org which is a specially designed portal of Sikh Kids. SikhVille.org is loaded with world class content for propagation of Gurmukhi and Gurumat. It includes Online Games and Apps, Cartoon Series, Saakhian Videos, Audio- Video assisted Punjabi reading and Downloadable activity sheets. The portal too is not-for-profit and accessible for free. In addition to animation films, Sukhwinder Singh also organizes Gurmat Camps for youth to prepare and equip them with knowledge of Gursikhi so that they become flag bearers of Sikhi in their educational institutions and work places. He is the founder member of Khalsa Camp India, through which such camps are organized. Thus, the contribution of Sukhwinder Singh in exploring new media (animation films) for propagation of Sikh history and Punjabi makes him a true Sikh role-model.
