When her classmates under the guidance of Bob Wear of Gratful Ded performed her song Saving the Earth at an Earth day concert in San Francisco on 22nd April, 1990, she became quite popular. In 1997 she began her career as a food technologist with piece serials in Eugene, Oregon. She started her music career in 2000 with Guru Granesha Singh Khalsa, a guitarist. A number of albums were then produced including some Kirtan albums like Kirtan Sohila and some other hymns. After her marriage with a graphic artist, Sopurakh Singh, the couple undertook such tours. It needs to be mentioned here that her one of the album ‘Shanti’ had appeared in the news when it got an entry for the Grammy award competition. All of her compositions show a deep influence of Sikhism. This influence can be seen in her books also which include a book on Japuji Sahib entitled ‘Meditation of the Soul’. This book was published last year. All these achievements make her a Sikh role-model who derives energy from Sri Guru Granth Sahib and inspires thousands of the people.
