The three main cities of Punjab are Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana. Amritsar is the hub of Panthak Activities as it is one of those cities which have maximum historical/non historical Gurdwaras. The most important non historical Gurdwara in the city of Amritsar is situated at Lawrence Road and is named after the Great Sikhs scholar Bhai Veer Singh Ji. This Gurdwara is one of the oldest Gurdwaras as it commemorates the memories of the residence of Bhai Veer Singh Ji who was born in Amritsar on December 5, 1872. After his death, this residence of the great Punjabi Poet and Sikh Scholar was converted into museum cum library. The house, spread over four acres, has preserved most of his belongings – 60 years after his death. It is being managed by a local committee on behalf of New Delhi based Bhai Vir Singh Sahitya Sadan. The living room showcases a huge portrait of the writer, along with the Padma Bhushan bestowed on him for his contribution to literature. Extracts from his writings adorn the walls. His spectacles, wallet, slippers, cot and other items are kept in various rooms. The room of his younger brother, Balbir Singh, has also been preserved. As per a tradition started by him, two bouquets of flowers from his garden are sent daily to the Golden Temple. In the Gurdwara, apart from daily maryada, many social and religious occasions are also celebrated here. In addition, Kes Sambhal Parchar Sanstha is running in one of the rooms of the first floor of the Gurdwara Building, a free training centre for Turban Tying. During the last 12 years of existence of this Turban Tying Centre, more that 12 thousand children and some seniors have learnt the art of tying the Turban beautifully. Dr. Joginder Singh (9815846460) is the director of the management committee here and S. Gurpinder Singh (9876068384) is Turban Tying Trainer. The birth anniversary of Bhai Sahib Bhai Veer Singh Ji is celebrated at the centre.
