Dr. Gurpreet Singh
Wander


Dr. Gurpreet Singh Wander is the Chief Cardiologist and coordinator of the Hero DMC Heart Institute,
a unit of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. He is also the medical director of Ludhiana Rotary
Pacemaker Bank. He was born on 25th March 1960. He obtained his MBBS degree with merit scholarship
and won three silver medals. He further passed M.D. and D.M. in cardiology from PGIMER Chandigarh and
worked there as a senior resident for eight months till August 1988. On 1 September, 1998 he joined DMC
Ludhiana as a lecturer and has been working there during all these years. His association with this institute
has raised him today to the present status. In fact being one of the first few Cardiologists in North India,
the cardiology unit at DMC was setup by him in 1988. Since then, he has been actively engaged in research,
teaching and treatment of the patients by setting up Hero DMC Heart Institute, with 170 bedded cardiac
facility having two Catch labs and five operation theatres. In the course of research, he has published 106
papers including 35 in foreign journals. He has attended various conferences in India and abroad and given
lecture on this subject in various universities and institutes. Dr. Sahib has received various honours and
awards including Sujoy B. Roy Fellowship (1993), Award by IMA India (2004) and Dr. B.C. Roy National
Award (2006). As a Sikh, Dr. Sahib has a human approach and works with full dedication for the welfare
of all. As per the Rotary programme of which he is one of the members free pacemaker are supplied to the
needy persons. Whereas Dr. Sahib is an asset for the medical world, his honesty, humanity and dedication
make him a role-model for all.
